Other YZ426F

I ride a WR426 and it is a plenty enough handful for me!
WR426 here, too, with a big bore kit, hot cams, JD jet kit, high comp piston, YZ exhaust, and a host of other mods...do I need that much power? No...do I love that much power? You bet your ass!

nice... pics are worth a thousand words

i'm in the process of dropping a 450 exhaust cam in mine. had it all buttoned up once but somehow(long story and i don't want to point fingers or say anything about anyone that may or may not have been "helping" me put my cam chain on) my front cam chain guide got bent a little bit and that caused the balancer to hit it so i had to tear it back down and replace the front cam chain guide. so anyway i just got done putting that in tonight and got the 450 cam back in and timed up. bolted everything up and the engine is now done. just have to put the carb back on, fresh oil, oil filter, and coolant, change the tires and finish putting all the other bits back on and fire it up. i'm nervous but excited for sure :thumb:

The 426ers were nice bike. Heard some complaints from some riders saying they had issues with the bike rattling their plastics too much, but that is life right? I wanted one some years back, and would not mind one now. Nice bike no doubt.

I've ridden a lot of bikes, including the original '98 400F, and YZ450Fs, but somehow I've never managed to swing a leg over a 426.

Meanest Yamaha I ever rode was a YZ490, late model. Damn things were widow makers.
 You mean when they weren't blubbering like a pig or pinging themselves to death?

You obviously never rode a TM400 Cyclone if you think the YZ490 was mean. It wasn't unusual to see ads for them that read something like "Only ridden twice, injury forces sale"...:smirk:

Nope. The YZ490 I threw a leg over was stout and strong. I agree that some are not what they were made out to be, but some, when maintained and built right, were damn strong.

But no, I never strapped my rear to a TM400, but I would imagine they were stout as well.
