Stonyford Report! Hero Dirt! Lot's of Pics!

Some great friends and I all packed up in their RV and headed to Stonyford from Los Molinos area Friday afternoon arriving in Little Stony at about 4pm. Unloaded the bikes and then headed out for a short ride before dark climbing the CrackerBox. Good little warm up ride before and Epic Steak dinner around the campfire!

Quinn broke his footpeg clean out of the weld on his TTR250 about 300ft. from the top of the Crackerbox so he and his mom had to limp it back to camp. Luckily we had a welder brought to us and was able to fix it for the next day.

After the short hour long ride we got back to camp to set it up properly all the amenities and have some growlers of Pale Ale. It was a really nice warm up ride and somewhat of a tease leaving you wanting more. Had to some major and minor repairs on a few bikes before the day started and were waiting for some other friends to join up. The weather was amazing for the days ride with temps in the mid 60's and sunshine all over.

Now, were starting to get into the nasty hillclimb sections of Crackerbox and the now named "DTM" section of 27 which is refered to as Shagnasty! "DTM" means Dead To Me, because there is no reason to ride something that is not fun at all.

Coming up will be the infamous Shagnasty section of the ride! Lot's of dirt naps involved! LOL

So, my friends are in the learning stages of becoming more confident riders so I conviced them to ride the nastiest trail out there called Shagnasty. It is 9.3 miles of the steepest nastiest rocky terrain I could imagine and it is not really even fun but everybody should do it for the experience. Of course photos do no justice to the terrain but you can imagine. There were some dirt naps involved and some pushing of bikes up some sections but overall they did great and made it through the stuff. So, at the end of it with tails between legs I let them know that was the hardest thing they will have to do all day and it brought thier spirits back. I did well and had not dirt naps but was beat up as well from the trail. We have now named it the DEAD TO ME trail because there is really no reason to torture yourself on stuff that steep and rocky. Took us 3 hours to make 10 miles. .7 of those miles were really bitchen.

This was the only spot I could have even stopped to take pics. It was Shagnasty for sure.

The final day of riding. The weather did not hold up like we hoped and it started raining pretty good. Still got in a great ride and some good pictures too.

Ahh, a wonderful weekend gone and done. Sweet! Super good time, great soil, fantastic company, and the food and beer, Oh, the food and beer!

Good stuff. Which trail/part is shagnasty?
Looking forward to going 3/25-3/27. I let my manager know today that I have some riding to do that Friday and I won't be coming in. :smirk::wave:
Going to be able to make it out and ride with me that weekend?

Shagnasty is a part you don't want to ride. If you want to though it's when your coming up 26 from Lil Stony and you take your first right on 27 and follow it around until it comes to 28 and pass that and go around the mountain until you reach 28 again and go down 28 to wolf creek to get your bearing agian and head up to the good stuffs.

Gotcha. Yea I don't think I have ever hit that part of 27. Always gone left and and got on 28. One of the down hills going down to one of the creeks that direction on 28 from Lil Stony to Wolf creek is pretty gnarly rocky rutted mess.
