Dan needs to see something else besides El Mirage !:P
Laugh it up....

In all truth, El mirage is the furthest north I have made it on the dirt bike.
I've been all over down south and I am ready to be shown southern-central CA riding spots.

Things have been tooooooo hectic around here getting ready for my two week riding excusion. So I'll be rolling into camp/staging tomorrow (Friday) morning. Plan to take off from HB before traffic and get there around 9AM Friday.

Well it's all talk until the bikes are prepped and loaded... so I guess I am really ready now.

It's late now so I'll take off after morning traffic... get to Spangler for a little afternoon ride after camp is set.

Weather.com has updated it's forecast. Sunny and 83 on sunday? Sounds like things are going to be right next to perfect. Heading out sat night, throw a few back, make some noise. See You There! -BIG DAN:thumb:

Rolled in around 9:30PM saturday night, unloaded and promptly wicked up a fire. Ice cold tecate and a night sky full of stars, I slipped off into a pre-ride delirium. I have to admit, sleeping out in the back of a truck under the clear night sky is one of my favorite parts of camping.
Oddly enough, nature was silent. Absolutely silent. No bird, coyote, wind, leaves, or cricket sounds at all. Nothing... kinda eerie...

Sunrise fire and a quick geocache run on the motos prepped my mind and joints for the days ride. Then, Mike jumps out of the truck and twists his already delicate knee... "No riding for me today," he proclaims IMMEDIATELY. Sadface. He said he would putt around camp while we were gone. So, he didn't get to ride with the group.

9:30 and off we (group of 6) went down alot of sand washes and sand trails. Across a dry lake bed to the Husky Memorial. Maybe 15+ OHVers at the memorial, and apparently lots of new stuff. Down a long sand wash, through some cool rock canyon formations.

Everything was wide open 5th gear desert romping. My WR is just awesome, just eats up the sand. Wish I had left the final drive a little higher... pinning 5th and constantly looking for my imaginary 6th is less then satisfying. My GPS said 75MPH top speed, while Jeff (bolt) got 82MPH+ without sweating the 525. Next time Jeff...

Looped back across parallel trona rd. and back to camp. Apparently 62+ miles with the throttle cranked. I used almost all 3.75+gal tank. Had plenty of reserve in the backpack, but almost got to fumes in the tank.

Kicked back, had a steak sandwich (thanks), and a shasta cola for a half hour. Refueled and headed out with my brother mike. He was feeling slightly better. We hit 5 miles of hill crest including some really whooped out hillclimbs, which is a great time. Had a quick wheelie competition with mike (he won) and generally rode like a fool.

GoPro Wide (std def) got it's first run this weekend. Camera angle came out great. I threw together a 3 min video of what I ended up with. Sometimes it was taking pictures when I thought it was recording, and recording when I thought I had stopped it. So, got next to zero good video of the ride. Next time, I'll push the right buttons...
PLEASE WATCH IN 480p for best quality.

Cool video! Looks like a fun time. Love those Joshua trees in the middle of nowhere for shade. I bet that one is 200 years old! They take forever to get that big. Oh, and sleeping in the back of your truck under the stars when the weather is nice is theeee best!!

Glad you had fun and thanks for sharing! :thumb:
