RUTS North DS Ride

So once we made it to the top of the hill, we hooked a right into a neighborhood and dropped into a sweet single track section. I stopped along the route to take a pic of part of the trail. Too fun to stop.

The trail dropped out into another neighborhood and split between two houses. I would love to live there. I would be motoring that trail everyday.

Just off to my left, I saw a little 2 year old boy all excited for the bike. I rode over and talked to him for a bit and handed him a CTR sticker. He now has the fastest Tricycle in South Lake Tahoe.

We took off through the neighborhood and it dropped us into down town South Lake Tahoe and right down the strip...

Once we got through town, we hooked a left and headed for the MTB park. I was getting excited as I rode this section last year in the other direction so I was looking forward to it again.

Not a lot of pictures on this section as it was long and fun. Super tight trails that flow through the trees and over rocks. The rocks are smooth and like ramps, some are steep step ups but I could spend all day riding the trail system up here.

We popped out of Incense Cedar..Awesome trail!

Sidewinder is a really tight single track and a fav to the MTB riders. I rode down this last year and was better going up as you can stay on the throttle.

After that and exciting the park, it was time for gas and food....Burger City was cool. I had a Tuna Salad sandwich instead of a burger. I had a burger on Sat and a nice Filet on Sat night at the Casino. I was topped off with red meat.
The guys are chillin to the left on the deck. I was out enjoying the sun.
Sunday Lunch.jpeg

After lunch we had to hit more pavement to get out of the valley we were in...

We made it down the road and did a combo of jeep trails and some outstanding single track. We had the option of a bail out towards the end and even though some were getting tired we opted to hit the hard ways which consisted of some upper level single track that dumped us out on the road 3 miles from the trucks....

This was a sweet shot from the hwy, you can see the waterfall coming down the mountain. Some awesome back packing up that way I hear, I just wanted to roost the bike up those trails....

Rivers running everywhere and getting more inviting as the day went on. Just wanted to stop a lay in one of the pools.

Tell me that does not look like a great spot to hang out?...

This sign says "Most difficult" though it was not difficult, it had it's challenges. With the dry conditions it was hard to get speed up on this trail. Lots of rocks and loose rocks. Tight trees and roots. If there was moisture in the ground it would be awesome to hammer that trail.

This trail ran for miles and popped us out on this nice view spot before dropping into the tress again and back to the trucks. Look at the miles of forest line...

OK so that is it, all the pictures I have. Total was 330 miles, with 6 other riders and a great time. The group was a great group, no bike issues (just my rock body slamming adventure) and we all stayed pretty close (as the dust would allow) to maintain a good pass all weekend. This is an event that is on the calendar each year. Though I am not that big of a fan of the extended pavement sections, it is still an awesome weekend of riding with friends. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed sharing....

OK one last selfie....

Thanks. And yes, I have not seen a ride report in some time. We use to have them all the time a few years back. A couple of the guys posted some videos from the ride, I will go find them and post them up.

Here are some vids that a couple of the guys posted. Different single track sections from day 1 and 2.

Here is one from Day 1 when I decided to tackle a couple down trees. Though the incident was not captured, you can put the story together as Steve rolls up on me.

Here is some of the canyon we ran down. Last year there was a lot more water and we had to turn back because of a beaver dam. Made it through this time, though this video does not take you all the way.

Day 2 - riding in the mountain bike park.
