I recently got a new bike to bridge the gap between the Harley and the dirt bike. It’s a KTM 1290 Super Adventure. It’s totally different from the Harley, and although it’s a bad ass bike, it’s taking me a while to get used to it. I just got back from a six day, nearly 2000 mile trip and I feel like the bike and I are starting to bond. I didn’t take a lot of pics, but I’ll share share what I have.
Thanks. I’m stunned at how good it is at everything. It handled all the dirt roads, even the gravely and and sandy ones with no problem. The twisty roads were an absolute blast. Out on the open road I could set the suspension for comfort, set the cruise control, and the thing was like a guided missile. Pass anything with a flick of the wrist.
The only downside is that the ergonomics kill my neck and back. After an hour, and I start squirming. My old spine isn’t what it used to be.
I have the same problem with my Africa Twin. I installed some handlebar risers and put on a Seat Concepts seat, but it only helped a little. I think I need the thicker foam version of the SC seat and I have some ROX risers that are a little taller than the ones I currently have installed.
I put the ROX risers on and they do help a little. They offer more adjustment than a traditional type riser, but I still haven’t found my sweet spot. The seat is still stock and definitely needs some kind of upgrade. I’m really hoping that my body has some adaptability left and that the bike and I can reach some kind of an agreement.
