On March 24, a coalition letter was sent to the state of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Bob Martin, requesting expeditious implementation of a new law that could provide responsible motorized recreation opportunities. The request comes after a long state history of limited off-highway vehicle (OHV) riding opportunities. Currently, the state of New Jersey has no public riding areas. This new law, P.L. 2009, c. 275, produces an opportunity for the creation of possibly three new OHV parks. However, this law has a timeframe of three-years so action is needed immediately.
The coalition, comprised of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), New Jersey Off Highway Vehicle Association (NJOHVA), Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) and the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (SVIA), has asked the Commissioner to take immediate action. The coalition needs your help to draw attention to this important issue and stress the necessity for OHV parks.
