Other FCR-MX 39 carb problem

Was riding yesterday and all was well. Then had to stop and realized the idle was running about 1000 to 1500 rpm. I had only been riding for about 30 minutes or so.
The idle adjustment wouldn't move. I let it cool down and pulled the carb without taking off the cables. The slide was a little rough so I put a thin layer of lithium grease on the back side of the rollers.
Everything looked OK so I started it up and still have the high idle, the adjustment screw has no effect.
Other than that it runs great.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Is the slide closing all the way?
It's going down to about 1mm from bottom in the center, the sides look to be at bottom, but I didn't take it of the bike, just the intake clamps and swung out with cables still attached.
I assumed there had to be some small gap for it to run at idle without any throttle so didn't think anything about it.
