Dirt bike stand

So I'm gonna make a dirt bike stand for one of my 2 welding projects. I want it to be one of those foot lever lifting stands, but it not the hydraulic type, a manual one that stops at length. I need a plan so I know exactly what size to make it, and more importantly, how to get it to set at the top of the stroke and keep my bike from dropping, I have an idea but I'm not sure if it's right and don't want to test it.
