Death Valley over Presidents Weekend

Looks like you had a good trip. Death Valley is still on my list of places to see. Also, that's a nice looking Goldwing :thumb:
Now, I think it's time for some Harley History. In the 1910's the HD factory race team had a rider named Ray Weishaar who had a pet pig that would accompany him to the races. The team soon took the pig as their mascot and it became a fan favorite. Fans started calling them the team with the hog and soon the riders became known as hogs. Over time, any Harley Davidson motorcycle was called a Hog. In 1983 when The Motor Co. started their club, they came up with the name Harley Owners Group because the initials were HOG.
You are correct about the pig and that part skipped my mind. Thanks for the compliment.

Speaking of HOGS...Dave, do you still have yours? Shirley you didn't get rid of it? and yes I called you Shirley :smirk:

 I absolutely love that stupid saying. I still have the Big Red Road King under cover in the garage but I am not sure what to do at this point. I have a buddy that is interested in it and to be honest if I can get some $ I may part with it. I have had Harleys since 1979 and it is not an easy thing to do but I really can not see me riding that thing on long distance cruises with the wife on the back anymore. This Goldwing is the Cadillac of bikes. :noidea: I will Shirley let you know what I end up doing.

I absolutely Loved Death Valley!

Nice ride report 530:thumb:

This is just outside of Lone Pine... there,s a cable ca there that runs over the mountains
The cable you are talking about is the Swansea Valley Salt Tram. If any DBA guys want to do a DS ride up there it is on my bucket list. I have done it in a 4WD and I highly recomend it. @530ktm you game?

Check out the links below this is on the east side of Owens Valley Lake.

It is a great place to visit at this time of year. We were going to head back over the 168 out of Big Pine but plans changed so we have to look forward to this next year. Not sure what or where Cable is but there is a lot of highway to travel. Nice bike you have there too. :thumb:

We rode the highway to the east of the lake bed past that little town of something. These places look like a fun journey Brent, Jeep or bike.
