dang your doing good! im just trying to see what yall are doing to stay in shape and if it works for you. i haven't been working out for a while. i was doing good then broke my arm and had surgery and all that so iv been riding a lot and got somewhat of my speed back. but now need to start hitting the gym again
 Matter of opinion, I'm no where near to where I want to be at, thankfully I've still got a month or so to work on it before :ride:. :thumb:

Honestly I don't think to many guys in the amateur motocross ranks workout, heck most motos are only 10ish mins so it's not that big of a deal. But if you can go flat out for 10-15 mins that's a huge advantage against the competition.

 Yeah I realized that after I'd posted.

BTW had a nice workout tonight. :rocker:

Hey woods you should create a new member thread if you haven't already. :thumb:

I'll be the a hole here and say that I have never seen the inside of a gym. I don't run or jog, or do anything remotely similar to "working out".

What I do is just work my land every weekend. Either I hunt it or make it better for hunting. That is a real work-out! My thighs are on fire just walking around! Granted, I could do some more consistent cardio, and that would be good, but I don't need to lose a pound, and I can do whatever I want!

I would benefit from some jogging or swimming...my city has the way coolest athletic center just 300 yards behind my house complete with Olympic pool and even batting cages! They have everything! I just find it hard to actually GO there, when I feel fine and fit already! WTF?

I ride with a lot of different riders and ride all woods tight trail riding. I have noticed that if your doing any type of racing, your conditioning boils down to how often your ride and how many miles you put on your bike between races. My rides in the good season range from 70 to 200 miles per day 3 to 4 days a week. I have never raced but know that when I ride with people that race that don't ride much between races that; They may be faster than me but can only last half the day. Try going out more often and intended to put some serious miles on your bike. There is no better way to work out for riding than riding a lot. Trail maintenance is another great one. Go ride 70 miles and buck logs off the trail all day.

As much as I value technology on a daily basis I believe the more you give you self to do while riding (worrying about heart rate and such) the less you are paying attention to riding skills. Know that if you ride hard you are pumping the crap out of your heart and it has not exploded yet right. Hehehehe, Hanging on to a motorcycle in the woods or on a track for 50 plus miles three days a week is by far a better, harder, and much more fun workout that sitting in a gym.

Sorry, I'm just gymophobic as I refuse to be part of the ratt race and the only indoor exercise I will be doing is my girlfriend or a 12 ounce curl. Hahahahahaha!

whats a new member thread do? and i would love to ride 3 or 4 times a week!!! but i have to go to school during the week and and then race every weekend. so the only other option i got is hitting the gym. and yes me to i dont like going to the gym i much rather get out and ride or work on trails.

Alot contributes to your overall endurance, including diet. A healthy diet combined with light wieght traing and extensive Cardio workouts will give you the strength and endurance you need. It does take time but instead of running use a Bicycle. You can ride them everywhere and the right bike (BMX or MTN) will get you a little more into curb jumping and some light offroad stuff. The important part is logging the miles. Expect to put 10 or 20 miles a day in on the bike and look for a decent multi vitamin for internal balance.

i dont have a bike and no money to spend on 1 so thats not an option. i have look to see what kind of diet i need, but haven't found any info on what im looking for its all weight loss diets and im a good weight right now. i do take vitamins. if any1 knows of web sites please post them.

Meat, and fish is good, you won't loose weight and tons of protein and protein feeds the muscle. Of course you will need some fiber to counter act allot of protein :thumb:

Interval training is a huge way to get your endurance up. Get on the tread mill or eleptical or stationary bike set it for as fast as your able to walk or ride. Get your heart rate up. Get off the tread mill (keep it running) then do as many push up as your able to in say a minute. Then get back on the tread mill or eliptical for a min. Then get off and do as many sit ups as your able to in a min. Get back on the tread mill for a min. Then do your push ups less 10. you can see the cycle Im getting at. Do this untill your down to 10 reps on your push ups and sit ups. I would say do your interval training 3 days a week. Say Mon, Wed, and Friday. On Tues and Thursday you can push Iron if you want. Or just do regular calistentic type work outs. Swimming as mentioned is huge. No better full body work out than swimming. You actually use every major muscle group swimming.

Your diet is huge part of your endurance. Like was mentioned lots of protein. That doesnt necessarily mean only red meat. Fish and chicken have lots of protein. Salmon is really good for you. Tuna is good but get the stuff packed in water. Chicken if your worried about fat stay away from the dark meat ie drum sticks and thighs. Breast meat (white) is better as it has a lower fat content. Dark grean veggies broccillie, spinach, green beans ect. Stay away from high starches (rice, french fries, pasta) and high carbs (white bread) Whole wheat is best. Unless your carbing up the night before a race, they are best, only in small portions. Water lots and lots and lots of water. On an average day you should consume atleast the minimum of 8 8oz glasses of water or roughly a half a gallon. Yeah I know it sucks at first cuz your having to pee every 20 min but your body will get used to it. Be careful with the water as you can over hydrate. Anything more than a gallon a day and your just wasting water unless you really need it. If you feel thirsty your already dehydrated.

Now for the painful part. Stay away from the beer. Its high in carbs. Wine is ok but stay away from the white and pink wines. Reds are the best for you. Soda's are a huge no no. All that extra sugar is just going to make you peter out fast. Energy drinks are another huge no no. Sure they pump you up but are loaded with sugar and other stuff that I cant pronounce. Even more than a large travel cup of coffee isnt all that great for you (but its my vice).

Just my 50 Cents worth.
