69 VW Bug - Project

Any rust that need's welded? Do that first. If not sand the whole car with 220 and fill in any imperfections with putty and then sand down and add again as needed until perfect. Then lay primer. Then sand with 320 wipe with cheesecloth and shoot basecoat. I am no "pro" at all when it comes to bodywork, but a guy i work with used to own his own bodyshop and i was talking to him about painting my truck this summer and this is what he told me. I did end up painting the roof of my truck like this and it worked out great, my only mistake was i used 80 grit to knock the filler down and i didn't do enough 220 afterwards to get rid of some of the scuffs. :thumb:

Hire it out Mr. Big Bucks!

 Wed. I rolled up on a 56 cab. This was completely redone to stock perfection. Only things that pissed me off was it was a Cholo punk kid driver with a Raider beenie. :picard:

Driving in to work this morning I was listening to 1st Wave on XM and a Depeche Mode song came on and I started  because it reminded me of driving around in my '66 Baja with no back seat because I had these huge house speakers back there. I use to blast the DM on the stereo while driving around...

To this day if I'm driving and the ZZ Top song Tush comes on I immediately start looking around for cops ebcause the first time I heard it I got pulled over for speeding. :bonk: TRUE STORY

Hard take take pics of on my wall, this was my VW drag car that was on the cover of VW Trends Mag. We raced in Super Street Class held the record in the class for 3 years at 10.21ET 128.3MPH :hail: The motor made 308 hp just before we sold it so I could buy my house. The car went to Japan and is still being ran there. Motor was a 2443 88mm stroke X 94mm pistons it had a custom made roller cam which I made the roller lifters for. I also designed & built the 62MM Terminator Carburetors (later outlawed in NHRA Pro Stock) There was no radio in this car it was all business just going straight & fast.:rocker:

I also had a street bug that ran Mid 12's in the quarter that had a radio:smirk: See if I can find some pics of it.

I just want to know who the model is/was. :smirk:

That's a CB head, the cylinders we pulled off the same engine measured 90.5 if I remember correctly. Nothing crazy but not bad for our dune buggy :rocker:
