It's a little like the Mojave Area. In the park is 80,000 acres open area like Spangler. It is run by CA State Parks. Same people that run Hungry Valley. They have the same kind of free maps. And a Ranger Station on site... and you can even do some OHV registrations with them. Or at lleast you used to be able to. Outside the park is either State Parks street legal only... or BLM (Green & Red sticker OK). All LEGAL ! State Parks street legal is on trail only. BLM down there is like it used to be most places... open desert. There is some private land... and restricted and signed BLM land too... but it is NOTHING like Cal City area. You will not find 3000 Karsonite signs in OW. You guys that don't know other areas would be shocked... and better understand why those of us that ride every where are so bothered by the behavior of the FOJ and BLM and Cal City LEOs that refer to themselves as the friendliest OHV destination in the world... because they have made a mess out of the area compared to other locations like OW. The people of the greater Cal City area are drinking their own Kool-Aid if they believe they have the best OHV location. There is NO desert in all of the state as over-managed as it is around Cal City except maybe Glamis.
