okmake sure it has gas, make sure the gas is flowing from the tank to the carb. Then, if that is good make sure there is spark at the spark plug. If not replace it. If it does spark then its time to clean the carb, specifically the pilot jet. The pilot hole is so small it may be better to just buy a new one. But, you can clean them with a single strand of copper wire from a multi strand wire like used in the bikes wiring or car wiring. The hole to clean is the one from end to end. That is the one that moves the fuel to the motor for starting.

im pretty sure the carb needs cleaned its been awhile since its started and its prob old gas. Thanks for the tipsIf it's been setting as you stated, then there are some things that need to be addressed.
Fresh fuel
Clean carb jets as our current pump fuels create deposits that stop up these small jets real fast.
Make sure the float needle is not stuck closed from these deposits.
Check for a good spark at the plug when kicking it over. You need a good bright Blue spark.
Make sure you have good fuel flow to the carb.
Make sure the coil mounts are not rusty.
Have you done a compression test? Rings will stick in an engine that has set for some time.
Make sure all the fuel line vents and exhaust are clean and free of critter nest.
