Hi there, I am new to the whole ‘online forum’ bit. I have researched and read up on other sites/posts/forums/threads, but have never officially signed up/registered on any forums. So please forgive me if I accidentally step on and/or offend anyone, it is definitely NOT intended.
I started out at 5 on a ‘72 Honda Trail 50 -> (progressed to) ‘68 Hodaka Ace 100 -> ‘75 Yamaha GT80 -> ‘81 Suzuki RM125 -> ‘85 Honda CR250 -> ‘84 Honda XL500 (daily driver). All of which have disappeared over the last 40 years.
Now at age 55, I amazingly stumbled across an old barn-kept BEAUTIFUL all complete running ‘85 Yamaha IT200. Includes all the original plastics and parts, (rear fender had been cracked and stapled, seat cracked but the white ‘Yamaha’ decal remained on the rear-of-seat. Unfortunately, I have NO pictures of the as-was bike, and have since disassembled it down to every possible nut and bolt. The cold-hot compression is 129-135psi respectfully, so I intend on only replacing pistons and rings (evidenced by normal wear-and-tear scratches on cylinder wall). I have already checked the VIN with both local law enforcement & insurance agencies, and can register it as a dual purpose motorcycle (providing it meets the safety/legal requirements upon date of registration).
As a first-time forum member, I look forward to meeting/making new friends, and widen my knowledge base….as knowledge is power, and power is always a plus when tackling new and exciting projects!!
Cheers,
The iPatch Pirate.
