I am always buying and selling motorcycles. This weeks endeavor led me down a horse road in riverside, CA. Here I found this 1994 GSXR, which had been sitting for 7 years in a clean garage. Had a VERY clean engine and bay. Not a drop of oil or smudge of grease on the exterior.
Both tires were still holding air, and the brakes are good. 11K miles. KEYS. No fairings.
When a bike is totally naked, you can see every detail. It is immaculate. Zero frame or case damage. Worth $1200 in this condition.

This fella had a $1000 RGV MotoGP Replica body kit NEW IN BOX. Never opened.

He was including the fairing kit. What a package for a able-bodied mechanic!!! Even the suzuki bike cover was included. Needless to say, I snatched it up within 15 minutes.
Got home and realized that this fairing kit has no holes, is a trim-to-fit, and includes extra parts. WOW! I'm a mechanic, not a custom fabricator.
Out comes the dremel, cutting bits, sanding wheels, drill, and Velcro. "I'm BIG DAN, I'll make it happen!"

Got everything mocked up with velcro, and loved the way it looked. No way it would fit with all the "CA evap" system. So, I looked online and found some good info on converting my CA model to a 49 states setup.

In the end 35 lbs of hoses, brackets, reedvalves, canisters, and subframes were removed. That's a 10% weight savings! Unbelievable.

The rear lower subframe, wheelpan, turn signals, license plate bracket, fusebox, rear shock canister, and "CA evap" canister were removed from this tail end. Leaving only the sexy aluminum subframe.

Shock canister and fuse box relocated to the cradle under the tank. They mounted nicely and very tidy.

The front end needed to be completely disassembled to incorporate the new front fairing stay. The gauge cluster needed to be fitted into this smaller stay also. Very tidy.

On to the new wheelpan, I needed to cut out the fiberglass and fit the light. What a pain in the arse. I'm good though.

To get the tail fairing/seat mounted up solid, I made a few sheet metal brackets and used nutclips to ensure easy removal.

Fitting everything in the rear together with velcro for fitting.

Looked good so I went for it. Installed the windshield and used some cool removable rivit hardware. There is no reaching around the fairings to get to nuts or hardware. I thought it out for a while. Looks good to me. I will have the tank this week and do a little vinyl striping to match. More pics to come!!
Also, I used a gas can with a nipple, hooked it up to the carbs. Plugged the necesary lines, and pulled the choke. She fired within 10 seconds. Idled great and bliped like a 750 should. I LOVE STREETBIKES.

:P I have a rear tire for it. Also, the tank is coming in the mail. I'll put blue and silver stripes on it. It's gonna look sweet! -BIG DAN:ride:

I'm sorry friend. I'm not sure what I can do to fix it. :noidea:
Anyone else having trouble seeing the pictures??? Thanks Rack. -BIG DAN:confused:

When I first looked at the thread about half the pics didn't load. Then I went back to the first page after looking at the second and all the images showed fine. I'm guessing that whoever you host your pics with is having some kind of issue.

Bike looks awesome! That was a find for sure.

Whoever was riding that thing sure got their value out of that rear tire.

Thanks Cleonard. Sometimes Godaddy has temporary site maintenance. Usually screws with me when I really don't want it to.
Try again RACK!:thumb:

This bike is really coming together. Blue and Silver striping and a blue and silver tank. RGV Emblem.
Changed the rear tire today, bled brakes, adjusted/lubed chain.
Installed gauge cluster on new fairing stay. Wired headlight and taillight. Even set it up for turn signals, if the next owner wants them.
Ran another pint of fuel through it today. Sounds really good. Stock 4-2-1 exhaust gives it mellow, subdued scream.
Still needs a day at the DMV Circus and a battery. Everything else is looking really clean and neat. Good bike so far.

I'm just sitting by the window... looking out on her...:blah:
