I’m having a hard time kicking my dirt bike as Im old and tired. Iv’e heard and tried to research starting this 2 stroke with a electric drill with no luck yet. I’ve seen it done on smaller bikes and atvs but this is a 400 2 stroke. I seen this work on the magneto side of the engine but Im worried about the motor starting BACKWARDS, yes Backwards. I’ve read that suzuki magnetos turn counterclockwise but when I try it with the drill the magneto nut comes off. I’ve thought about using the front sprocket as it has a washer that bent up on the corners which may keep the bolt from coming off but the transmission will needs to be in gear and the chain must have to come off or the tires gonna spin. Seems like to much power/force could ruin the transmission. Its a 1980 Suzuki PE 400 any ideas how to start this bike with a electric drill would be greatly appreciated.

What you describe by using the sprocket can be accomplished by bump starting or drag starting. It requires two people and a car, golfcart, or another running motorcycle.
That method wouldn't harm the transmission at all, but I don't think you'll get it all going with a drill motor.
Are you attempting to kick from tdc every kick? Or just wherever the engine has stopped?
The big 2Ts need TDC kicks to have a chance.

Yea we haven't tried using another vehicle to pull it along. We think we have it a TDC but sometimes we probably don't. This thing still has great compression and have scratch my leg up big time. I get tired of messing with it sometimes. Thanks for the reply
