Steel sprockets

The thing about sprocket replacement is, you need to remember the chain. If your sprocket is worn, most likely the chain is as well. If you only change out the sprocket, you will chew through it faster then if you replace the chain as well.

truthfully the steel PD sprockets are much more stout any straight up aluminum sprocket unless it has a hardened outer ring like the renthal twin wall or the supersprox stealth it will ware out very quickly so they are all kinda POS's dont fall into the trap that the weight difference is worth it.
however the PD steel units will hold up well, not as well as the previous renthal or supersprox, but they will be much better than the aluminium.
The gold x-ring chain from PD is a legitimate player i think its tensile strenth is just under 8,000 lbs and is very economical compared to other chains with similar tensile strengths.

:thumb: Yes don't forget to get a new chain for the reasons CDA stated.

ok heres the deal lol clarifying everyones suggestions, there is a chain on the bike... IT IS a NON o-ring chain, I checked it is well within the wear limit of 12.75" for 12 pins the rear alum spocket is nearly destroyed, it needs to be replaced and I am on a Rather tight budget due to college, so $50 is probably my MAX spending amount here lol.

So that $90 X-ring combo is out I'm running 12/50 which still takes a 114 link chain

yupp thats the 1 i was looking at, but i'm gonna switch between a 12 and a 13 when i go riding depending on the terrain :thumb: My friend with the other 96 has 2 13's and has a 12 for his bike, but he runs 49 on his rear rather than 50 which if we both 13 CS sprockets the difference will only be 2% 12/50 to 13/49 is a 10.5% difference :prof::ride:

if you ride in mud and sand the steel will really out wear a top dollar alum. I have used the RM cheap alum ones too and they are fine for the money and will last a year or so of riding.

Do this and never worry about it for a long azz time.

The RM Primary Drive sprockets have worked great for me. Not so for the chains. First I got the O-ring version. It wore OK, but broke six month later. They credited me the price of the chain and I tried the X-ring version. It lasted a bit longer before breaking and taking out my case. I figured the first was a mfg defect and I bet the other was too. After two failures I said no more. I paid the $20 or so extra for a RK chain and it's been good for a while now. My last RK steel combo lasted about five years.
