Husqvarna 2011 Huskys

right on i bleed orange but its good to see someone take aim at KTM. This bike should be pretty sweet. Im also excited about husky having the BMW backing, They maybe able to make a comeback to their once great off-road status.

Their still one of the best kept secrets in motorcycling. Despite the fact that they own the world manufactuers championship for SM and make very favorable showings in ISDE and GNCC a lot of people don't know that their still around. I guess the plan is quietly march their way back to the top of the heap.

i like the idea of someone backing husky financially, but the full bmw badged as a husky i dont like so much...not that the bike is bad but...just why market it as a husky when it is basically just the bmw x bike...i too bleed orange and love my katooms, but i still love seeing other euro companies having an impact on the asian dominated market....
my hope is that the huge impact of the high quality and high performance dual sport bikes available from europe will finally make japan realize they need to offer something truely dirt bike oriented but with a plate...i used to really be frustrated by this, but now i care less because i love my ktm, and would gladly ride a husky if ktm shut down.

I know Husky purists aren't too happy with this model due to the BMW motor, but I find it interesting, plus a good chance plated models will be available

It looks ALL Beemer to me...the swingarm/counter sprocket combo, tank (lack of...it's under the seat)...am I wrong???

Well, Husky worked in a collaberation with BMW on that bike even before BMW acquired Husky so it is niether a pure bred Husky or a pure Bred BMW but more of a joint effort between the two. Everything I've heard so far suggests that it is going to be an amazing bike and that most or all the of the problems that plauged the BMW 450 have been sorted out. Only time will tell for sure but I'm moderately (cautiously) excited to see something this radically new.

The first (main) thing I remember of being a concern is the swingarm/countershaft hinge point...that's still the design on the current bike so I guess it wasn't an issue...? I think it's a great idea if it works PLUS I liked the looks of the BMW offering so the looks of the NEW Husky is nice...except for the long ass seat with the tank underneath it! Kind of sucks having to take the seat off to re-fill or am I missing something? :noidea:

The swingarm that rotates around the center point of the counter sprocket is a great idea but BMWs version was weak because they used the engine as a stressed member of the frame so they had a tendency to crack the crankcase in the area around the countershaft. Husky incorporated a cradled engine so the frame takes the abuse, not he engine case.
I think that there is a filler cap in the back of the seat that allows acces to the fuel tank without removeing the seat but I'm not sure about one.

You mentioned you get a lot of or most of your Husky stuff ":on line"...where do you get it from and do they carry stuff for older bikes (94 610)) and accessories (jerseys, etc.) since MS doesn't cater to Husky owners they only sell em.

I'll put together a list of places to contact and things you might expect to find there. Cafe Husky.com is a good source of info.:thumb:
