I guess all dentists aren't sleazebags

About a year ago I had a filling come out of one of my molars, which I then had it fixed this past November, just in time for the TDay trip. But then early this year it came out again. :foul: So I scheduled another appointment, which was yesterday, to get it fixed yet again. This time he did it a little differently so that it hopefully hold longer. :thumb:

So after we're done he asked me if this was the same one from last November and I said "yeah". Then he makes a little note on my chart, before he hands it to me, and says "Ok this visit will be at no charge then". :wow: Seriously? Dang I didn't know that fillings came with a warranty.

Made my day/week. :ride:

that is amazing. they are usually wallet rapists and they are good at it too
I know, that's what surprised me. I have been going to this doc since I was young though, plus they don't seem like your average Dr.'s office, obviously. :noidea:

Oh and since I didn't have it numbed the first time it was only $75, so I got two fillings for $75.

They are good at it because you are at their mercy. If they tell you that you have a cavity how often do you say PROVE IT? OR...if they say you need a root canal when maybe all you needed was just a filling. I read an article about this. A guy went to dentists all around the country. Before he left he went to his dentist and two others. All agreed on the status of his teeth. He had one filling he needed. He was then told by other dentists that he didnt have any cavities to needing several implants (new teeth) ranging from a 100.00 procedure to A 50,000. quote. The new teeth recommendation was in Manhattan NY. He found that the most honest dentists were females. Overall the majority of the dentists did not note that he only had ONE cavity. Most of them were recommending stuff he didnt need at all.
It sounds like you have a good dentist. Stick with them if you like them and get a good vibe from them. It is about all you can do. Or maybe check Yelp. I like yelp for things like this.

Glad you had a good experience. Dental work is EXPENSIVE!!

I got my braces tightend today, I sat there for an hour :foul: Although I got out of computer class, worse class ever IMO. The teacher doesn't like me and I don't like her

:thumb: You're like me. I only have two fillings in my mouth at 44 (one is from breaking a tooth) but I didn't get numbed for either one. It was a bit uncomfortable for a few minutes, but much less uncomfortable than having half my face dragging the ground for hours would be. I hated the numb feeling when I had my wisdom teeth removed (is that why I'm so stupid??? :smirk: ) and swore I'd never get a shot of novacain again.

 Finally someone that feels the same as me, the first time was to save money ( yeah I'm a tight wad, so what?), but it didn't really hurt and I could actually talk right after. :thumb: The second time I really had to talk them out of it, they thought I was crazy, couldn't really disagree with them. :bonk:

I am just the opposite...I've had dental work done before where the area wasn't numb enough...when he started to drill I definately felt it...once they were able to peel me off the ceiling he applied more novacain (Sp). That did the trick...

I with you REZ, give that chit and lots of it. I will take a horse trank if you got it, don't want to hear, smell or feel any drilling. :thumb:

I had a dentist once a few years back that knew of my "condition", would give me more novacain AND had headphones to wear during the entire process! :thumb: The problem with that was he wasn't an HMO/PPO dentist so when I lost my full coverage med-ins I lost him!

The sound and smell is the worse part, I can handle the pain somewhat, but the rest *shudder*.

:thumb: He did tell me that next time I should bring some music/headphones, but I don't intend on going back again. :smirk:

Ahh I remember those days like it was yesterday, did you have to get any teeth pulled? I needed 3 pulled because I guess my mouth is to small.

Indeed, 4 molars! 2 of them were 3 rooted  At least they are all straightend out now, I still have them another year and I'm done
