So you did ALL that just to change your grips????? .............
How did you know? Mine actually is getting some maintance. I bent the dang exaust so I'm trying to straighten it, I'm going to try the washer trick on the clutch and see if I can cut down on some drag, why I have it appart I'm unhooking the grey wire and removing the throttle stop screw (Or changing it to the YZ). Basically doing all the free mod's for more power. Also greasing a few bearings and such.
And you have to take off the front wheel to get to the throttle cable............? Hmf...must be a eastern block kind of bike, kind of like a CZ or ? ......You know we've got to bust your chops JUST CUZ!
Good idea to check it...you DO go thru a lot of water where you ride......I can only imagine their sealed but still, can't be too careful! Sure it's not your front brakes squeeking?
Here is the story. I hit a jump and when I landed I gunned it a little hard going off the next lip. Well needless to say I flipped the bike. No biggie right. Well I picked up the bike and desided to go at it again. I road up to my buddy that was parked on the edge laughing and when I let off the gas the front tire stopped. So here I go tumbling down the hill trying to keep the bike off me. He comes down and is like what the hell are you doing. I told him I didn't know what happened. We picked up the bike and the front tire wouldn't turn. We messed with it for a while and finally it came free. Ever since then I have had a squeek every once in a while. Washed everything really well and still had the squeek so I desided to see if there was a rock or something in the brake and check my bearings. Everything looks good. I'm going to grease it up and put it back together. Don't know what else to do.
Sounds more than just needing grease...must have bent something, brake pad rubbing, bent rim, ?????
Yeah I just don't know. You spin the wheel and it looks good. The bearings seem good. No scoring or anything on the shaft. I did get some dirt out of the brakes but I haven't pulled the pads out of the caliper yet. Almost acts like maybe some dirt is maybe in the piston or something. I don't know I'm sure I will get it figured out someway or another. May take some flying lessons finding out but thats :ride:
Total rebuild time was one week and I had never done it before. This includes splitting the cases and the machine work so I know a week seems long but I was very thorough. Got a used low mileage crank and piston from someone who had done a big bore after 1500 miles on their bike. Bought all the rest of the parts brand new OEM. Total cost was right around $689.42. Not bad for a whole new motor on a four stroke top to bottom.
