No More Scott Desert Goggles, But Electric Ones Available?

Looking at a few websites at goggles, it looks like the Scott Desert model no longer made? Don't see it listed at RMATV (other than a few in the closeout bin), or on Scotts website. I see an 87 sand/dust model, wondering if that is the replacement model.
Too bad if they are no longer made, I liked them.
Also, a model with a fan to prevent fogging? Would that work to evaporate sweat in the summer? If so, that would be nice, not sure if $70 nice though.

I think the sand/dust model is meant to be a replacement for the old desert model. I have been using only Scott goggles my whole life, but lately have been disappointed about the durability of the foam. It starts to disintegrate, leaving little pieces of foam everywhere, and then comes unglued. I used to get almost two seasons out of a pair of goggles, now they barely get me through one.
At the start of this season I bought a pair of Smith goggles with the Sweat-X foam. I'm liking these goggles. The foam is holding up very well (still like new) and filters out the dust as well as the Scotts did. They also have closeable vents built into the frames that help with fogging. The pair I got didn't come with light sensitive lenses so I had to buy those separate. I will buy another pair of these next time. :thumb:

Performance Motorsports in SJC used to carry them, but I don't know if PMS is still there?? They were having issues and got bumped to another location they were'nt too happy about. Poor venting in googles doesn't help, but even those that are well vented, can still happen. Here's a quick temp fix if you ever run into a fog issue (I do this with my Oakly's when in the snow... warm vs cold really makes for some foggin). Rub some spit (lol) in the inside of your lense's, then dry it with the polish/wipe cloth. Believe it or not, it really helps. I learned this when I took cert for diving, we had do this with our mask. Seems to work for glasses and goggles. :thumb:

Old-school stuff (to me) is still the best...:thumb:

I too am frustrated with the recent line of scott goggles... Seems they are not interested in quality anymore.

I will attest to spitting in your goggle also. Had to do that yesterday. Never fogged again. There is also an anti-fog wax that works great!!!
I also learned that from diving! -BIG DAN:thumb:

I have been using Oakley O-Frames for about ten years now. Even riding in 115 degree summer heat I haven't had any problems with fogging. Foam holds up really well. The only issue I have experienced is that they do leak dust to the inside, so on a long ride in dry desert, they do tend to dust up quite a bit. I run tearoffs, so have a way of cleaning the outside, and I've started carrying glasses cleaner wipes to clean the inside on long rides when I'm riding sweep.

If you stay out in front, not an issue, and on shorter rides, not an issue. Doesn't really have any major impact until you get up around the 100 mile mark.

Smith fat Sweat-X foam is nice! MC Superstore always seems to have good deals on em too..
I second the Smith goggles, I love my Warps. Great fit and awesome foam. Scott goggles always seem to pinch my nose and make it hard to breath, and the foam doesn't hold up.
