Hi Dez Ride Report 12-11, A Little Blood.

Met Rob up at the planned spot early Saturday morning. The weather was perfect, and the wind was maxing out at about 3MPH, nice for a change.

Gassed up and hit the trails

The area we were riding isn't very popular, but if you know where to look, there are fun trails.

Speedy Rob was usually 1/4 mile ahead of me, if you look hard, you can see him in the photos

Done with the morning loop, we headed back to the trucks for chow and to gas up.
After lunch, we decided to head east to the abandoned octogon house. Relatively
flat land, sand washes, minor whoops. I was cruising along, next thing I know, the ground is heading towards me at a high rate of speed. I have no idea what I hit. After Rob helped pull the bike off me, he went back to look for a hidden rock or rut, found nothing.

After the stars disappeared, we headed on, by the time we got to the abandoned house, I was really starting to hurt.

Rob took the single track back to the trucks, while I rode the easy trail. It was about 1:30 by the time we got back, decided to call it a day. Other than the crash, it was a great day of riding. Rob helped me load my bike in my truck, and we split.
That evening, my leg and shoulder were really hurting. Sunday morning, decided to head to the emergency ward.

Nothing like having your photo taken while wearing one of those cool hospital gowns,

Prognosis is a separated shoulder, some bone chipping and minor nerve damage in the leg, but nothing major or permanent, good to go in a couple of weeks. The prescribed vicodin is doing it's job :thumb:.

Nice ride report Agent....Is this the year for everybody to wad themselves? Hope you heal up quick.

Oh on side note, I think you mentioned something about working in Camarillo, but never told me where that exactly was. You are probably a stone throw from me...

Damn!!! Glad you are OK. Your right forearm and you look like a poster child for elbow pads :prof:

One more thing, If you stay in second gear the crashes are not as painful :P

I will have to disagree on this one Fish. Most of my surgical injuries are from 2nd gear get offs...:prof:, But I like your thinking...:thumb:

I vote this the wounded warrior pic weekend and perhaps the year. Heal quick.

Hey just be happy that gown pic wasn't from the back. or is that :faint:

In other news, the riding gods delivered a nice pair of EVS elbow guards to me over the weekend. They were just sitting in the trail. After seeing this I'll start wearing them.

I always wear knee guards and they saved my ass on this fall, I could feel the bike resting on the guard while it skidded along the ground. My knee would be toast right now if i wasen't wearing them. I have 2 pairs of elbow guards, 661 and MSR, I believe. Both are uncomfortable to wear and seem to ride down my arms unless I tighten the straps to the point of cutting off blood circulation. But I will listen to recommendations for elbow guards that are comfortable and stay in place, is there such a thing?
I posted the gown photo because if you ride a dirtbike, you have worn, or will wear "the gown of shame."

Well the blood is circulating now  :cripple::P

When Kaiser pulls up my medical history it reads:
dirt bike
dirt bike
mountain bike
dirt bike
...

I am surprised they just don't ask, "did this involve two wheels?" :smirk:

When you said hospital I was thinking it might be some stitches. Glad its nothing that time won't heal but bummer about being off the bike.

We were riding along in low 4th on a nice dirt road with Agent2 leading. Out of nowhere he slams into the dirt. He is now sliding forward. I notice that I am gaining on him all of a sudden and I think, "I'm going to run him over. Turn!" I narrowly missed him as he was still coming to a halt. He didn't roll at all. He hit the dirt on his right side and just slid getting lacerated in the process.

It took a good 10-15 min for him to recollect his faculties. At first he was saying that he should go back to the truck. I'm thinking that is a good idea. After thinking for awhile about how it was such a great day to be riding he then says, "no, you know what? I want to keep riding damn it!" or something to that affect. I'm thinking, "Wow, this guy is pretty banged up but he wants to ride. wth. Lets go."

Besides the get off, it was a great day of riding. The weather was perfect. Cool temps with no dust or wind :thumb:
