looking at bikes... very suprised at the $$$

hey guys i've been wanting to get a bike to get into some better shape and to save gas when i just need to run across town i've been looking at some bikes with suspension so i could also do some downhill stuff when i'm up in the mountains but then i saw this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cj6ho1-G6tw which i've posted alot in the chat box, and really think a street trials would be sweet cause i'd learn balance and stuff better for riding dirtbikes too. I know a few of you had some suggestions the other night but i decided to post it. It seems like ever bike i end up liking is around $2,500  i could buy a real trials bike for that much with a motor and everything! lol...

Unless you make a whole lot of money I would stick to one expensive hobby. Sell your bike and get a plated bike. Then you can go across town and still ride in the woods. That's what I do!:moon:

yeah deffinatly don't make alot of money... yet...lol. I dont know how many thousands i've dumped into RC cars and they're all just sitting in storage :banghead: at least a bike hopefully i'd use

you don't need a 2500 dollar bike to have fun, or to do downhill crap... Look into a 2010 Gary Fisher or a 2011 Trek "Gary Fisher Edition" with only front suspension.

Wahoo Disc
Mamba

Both of those two are REALLY great bikes, and you will not be disappointed

funny i found that vid and posted it in the chat the other day as well hehe... that guy has awesome skills.

just know this... if you get into downhilling and DONT spend the money on a nice bike you WILL be replacing parts a LOT.

also id look into the santa cruz down hill bikes.. they are really nice.

i have never had any luck with mongoose bikes, but then again the most expensive one i rode was $120
yeah mine was like $150 full suspension walmart special...lol it was probably just the guys who put it together though... need to actually by one from a bike shop this time.

yupp, you don't need to go crazy though, 600-700 is really a good price range to buy new in, it's the "sweet spot" if you will, at least for 26".... 29" tend to be a little more, but from what I hear they are totally worth the couple hundred more dollars

it really depends on how you ride tho. a cheap bike will fall apart fast if you do stuff like freeride and like to go off the trail or jump a lot.

Bringing back an old thread... Just found this http://www.scott-sports.com/us_en/product/10041/55706/217977 up here in Fresno for $500... gonna post my 07 WR for $3,500 on Craigslist today, if I get that much for it I'll have enough to get my old bike running and pick this up too. What do you guys think of it? Like I said before it's mainly gonna be for street trials but I like this one cause it's got gears too to go across town easily.

DING DING DING sell your RC cars and get a bike!:thumb:

The problem with that is for every thousand you spend on RC cars you only get about $250 back :bonk:

Yeah, my brother got into them for a while. Now they are all sitting scattered around the garage. Better to get some money outa them instead of having them sit around becoming more and more outdated :thumb:
