Awesome work. It really sounds good and the difference in appearance is night and day.
Good Job! Keep stuff like this coming!

It’s almost aggravating, to have it sitting, and no other projects coming…. I might just accept the next offer of 1500 that comes along… (I’ve gotten several offers of this amount already)

Nice work bringing that old YZ60 back to life, cleaning up a seized motor is no small task. The tank fade is pretty common on plastics that old; repainting or using a restoration kit might be the only way to get it back to solid yellow. Don’t give up on it yet; it’s a cool project.

Yup, I had to repaint it, it hurt to do it, but it was my only choice  . Working on a 1985 honda xr80r right now. (I made a new thread for it)

Some kickstart gears require slow engagement before applying much force to the lever, or they will slip past the teeth.
If you feel it engage and then let go halfway through the kick, then it may have an issue inside.

What’s the secret to installing the kickstart start spring. I have a 1981 yz60 and can’t figure out how to install it .

The arm goes against the lug behind the idler gear, and the spring wraps around clockwise to that hole that is not a bolthole.
This is a KDX, but similar style.
