Solidworks

Anyone know how i can create a printable template from a piece done in solidworks. More specifically I have a model of an A-arm and need to create a template to print out and draw onto my tube to get the correct notch. If someone could please let me know how to do it that'd be awesome :hail::hail::hail::hail:

Just print it at 1:1 ratio..I think I remember you can do that pretty easily. I'll fire up solidworks on monday if you don't have it figured out by then.

What are you building arms for.

I'm in the SAE Baja club at school....basically a glorified go-cart. You can google it it's pretty cool little competition with schools from across the nation.

Um what do you mean? I know how to print drawings and stuff but I've heard there is a way to wrap the part in the program and it finds all the degrees and measurements that can then be printed out as a template to then wrap your tube with and trace the edges. I'm working off the student 2010-2011 edition so maybe im limited based on my versions capabilities but think there should be a way. If not I can at least tell the president of the club of how to do it cuz he has a full version. If anyone can figure it out though and tell me then I'd greatly appreciate it. We are actually done with the arms after hours of making at perfecting our own templates, but now we are dealing with a rear frame tube that we had to cut out cuz it was dented, so we are having to fit a piece in to a spot that it at a very odd angle.

still haven't been able to figure it out :foul::foul:
Sorry can't really help you, I only worked with AutoCAD. :noidea:

But I did find this after 3 mins on Google. :thumb:

Yes you can print 1:1 in SolidWorks. Start by selecting print under the file menu or pressing ctrl+p. Next, under the "print range" section, select "selection" and click "OK". In the dialog box that appears, pick the scale that you require but don't hit "OK" just yet. Drag the frame that shows up on your drawing or model to the section you would like to print, then click "OK"
