250F Another 2004 KX250F Project/Build

I've cleaned filters in gas for over 40 years and never had one break down on me. I make sure it airs out over night or throughout the day before filter oil and installed.

You guys ever have a clutch cover gasket just go bad and leak like a sieve? And quickly, in like 90 minutes?

Back story-
Took the KX to the track last weekend. Had it there the weekend before too, right after cleaning the air filter with gas.
Ran it out of gas midday, leaned it over and filled the bowl, then rode it back to the truck.
Glanced underneath after 5 mins, and saw that it was leaking. I thought maybe it was gas and that was why I ran out.
Upon more inspection, its oil, and looked like it was leaking up near the right side frame, by the rear of engine. The dirt and mud was wetter there too.
It was broiling hot so I loaded up and left.
Get home to a small oil slick on the bed of my truck.
i shouldn't have done this, but I pulled the drain plug and let it drain for a few hours, then put it in my garage until today.
Pulled it out, hosed it off, and now I cant see where its leaking from.
I expected maybe a chip in the case or cover due to how much oil it lost, but nothing.
However, it is still really grimy after hosing it off in the right rear frame area, by the clutch cover.
But it dont look like its leaking from there.
Maybe its the case gasket?

I guess now that I've drained it I'll have to refill it to see

I’ve seen all kinds of crazy stuff happen. Could of blown through because of too much case pressure or loose bolt. Could be anything. How much oil cane out when you drained it? Pics would help but I would start pulling it apart.

Probably only 1/4 qt. It always looks like more though you know.
Just weird that it happened so fast.
22 hours on the rebuild with zero problems, then all of a sudden it's dripping steady.
We're into full-on heatwave here now so it's a good time to pull it apart.
That and I'm selling my truck too...
Hopefully be back in the dirt in Sept-Oct, with a van.

Before pulling it apart, I would clean it up real good, throw some fresh oil back in it and start it up and see and where it is leaking from.

I hear yeah on the heat, i was just out in AZ yesterday and it was hot. One reason I have not taken one of my bikes out there yet. Maybe in Sept.

Yeah thats whats gonna happen.
And yes, its hot! But at least its humid too :doh::confused:
Gonna be hot in Sept too. Mid-October it should cool down...hopefully.
I'll take the heat over the MN cold any day though. That sucked worse.

Yeah No hurry to get a bike out there to sit in the hot garage, plus I have a couple races coming up in Sept, that I might use the bike I'm bring to AZ in.

Took the KX along with the 125 to the track last weekend.
The KX still has the oil leak issue, I think it's just the drain plug washer, so I put in a shitty washer from Ace, and gave it a go.
Ran great and fired right up, but got down to the track, and the clutch was slipping, bad.
Clutch worked fine when I parked it at the beginning of summer.
What are the chances the clutch plates dried out and that is why it's slipping?
