Other dirtbike no idle

hello everyone, i have a 2003 kawasaki klx 125l and i let it sit for more then a year, i did dump the fuel out of the fuel tank but forgot to do it in the carburetor. so now i have cleaned both jets the main and pilot jet and can see through them both, float bowl works clean that too, new spark plug, air filter and oil. So i got it running and it seemed to be running good.

so i left it alone for about a week and now i went to start it today, kind of a cold day and it started but wont stay idling at all, idle screw is doing nothing and neither is the choke exactly what it was doing before.

but like i said about a week ago both where functioning properly and it was fine.

is maybe one of the jets still clogged? should i invest in a new carb?

thank you guys!

Does it run off idle alright, if you haven't already I'd rip it a little and see if that does anything. If it doesn't run right there either you may need to clean the carb again, but I'd also pay attention to the vent tubes to make sure they are not plugged. Now did you try adjusting the air mixture screw or the idle speed screw?

yes it runs off idle fine, and thats what i did last time and then it idled fine but this week the idle screw is not working turn it in does nothing then back it back out and it doesnt do anything

if it is a plastic screw for idle it may have the tip damaged or broken off...is choke turned off after it warms up and then still no idle?

no it is a metal screw, yes whether the choke is on or off it just dies pretty much immediately after i let off the throttle. sometimes if i turn it back on after it warms up, it sputters for like 2 secs and then dies, so it sounds like something is still clogged and not getting fuel

Clean the carb twice and then clean it once more.

I can't tell you how many guys on this site bought used bikes for super cheap because the seller thought it needed hundreds of dollars In parts and allit needed was a good carb cleaning.

yeah ive cleaned it twice already but gonna clean it again and then after run it for a long time and hopefully that helps.

so lets talk about how to clean the jets....I use a single strand of a multi strand copper wire, like is used for general use on the motorcycle or car. Put the wire thru all the holes you see in the jet, in this case especially thru the end of the pilot. The copper is softer than the brass jet so it wont hurt it. If it doesn't go thru then the jet is plugged bad or the wire is too big. Buy a new jet if you cant get the wire thru it. Do not use a welding tip cleaner unless that's all you can come up with. It will possibly enlarge the holes and that isn't the way to go.

i saw a whole new carb on amazon for 32$ includes all the jets and everything, would it be worth it to just buy that if cleaning it this time just does not do the trick?
