125 please help need advice!

Hey guys and gals
I have just signed up hear and am need advice on a Yamaha yz 125 it is a 2000 model. I am thinking about buying. The bike will start but sputter and die and I was told from the owner that the cam bearings. Now my likely to me I would say possibly the tensioner. But he is wanting $400 for the bike it has good plastic and tires. By my adding I can rebuild the top and bottom of the motor if need be. Is the bike worth it and what are your thoughts. Thank you for any help.

You're in luck!!!
A 2000 yz125 doesn't have any cam bearings or tensioner!
If you do end up buying it, it could just need the carburetor cleaned, but plan on a top end job minimum. 125s usually get worked pretty hard. -BIG DAN:thumb:

Thanks for the info I haven't been able to find much. Any idea what the resale price might be ?

Well, if you're going to bust my balls for stupidity, I was reacting to you saying you changed a cam bearing on a YZ 125. Then if you notice, Stevo said it was the girdle spring. Well Numb Nuts, there is no girdle spring on the bike your looikng at either. Steve's comment was the first laugh I had all day, so you can bite me.

Ban me now Danno.

PS: If you do buy a dirt scooter some day, before you start asking stupid questions again, buy a manual to go with the bike, and read that first, like everyone here that is trying to help you did in the first place of every bike they've ever had to pull a side panel off of. There is usually even pictures.
