Old timer with many bikes in NJ

Hello guys.

I live in NJ right now, been riding since 1966, first on homemade mini bikes, then the Honda Z50's until 1971 when I bought a 1971 Yamaha JT-1. Have never stopped riding and racing most evey year.

I am down to about 30 bikes (mostly vinatge) from a high of over 60 (again, mostly vintage).

My "new" bike is a 2013 KTM 350 XCF that I bought to replace my beloved 2006 YZ 250.

I hope to be able to learn some new things and hopefully share some knowledge.

Welcome Richard! Most of these guys wont make you feel out of place for being old. You can start by showing some of the vintage bikes. Most of them won't admit to being over the hill of course, but most of us will say we can see the crest really well at least.

Hey now I'm approaching the crest of the hill :prof: 6/1965.

Born in 1958, only living to ride, race, build, restore dirt bikes. Pretty simple.

I run www.acrmx.com along side founder Tommy France and I will start to introduce my bikes and builds as time permits.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Gorgeous bike, Richard. Those were hard not to like then, and now.

FYI in 1958 I was already stuck on the idea of owning a bike. I blame this really pretty girl who lived down the block whose father would put us both on the tank of his Indian when he rode home after work.

Thorwaldson (Thor) swingarm I believe. My 79 CanAm got one of those with works shocks. Helped me trackdown the next "hinge" in the frame.

Wheelsmith pipe?

Ossagp,

That swingarm is a "repo" current build arm. Not so much as a repo as it is a new build from old blueprints. Thor sold off the rights and blueprints to his whole line of swingarms before he passed away. The pipe is also a modern pipe based on the old Wheelsmith pipes.

My 1974 Ossa 250 Phantom is in a long line of bikes waiting for final assembly. I have almost every part, except for the pipe.

Current race bike is a 1975 CZ 250, the above Maico, 1974 YZ 250 (was assembled to race, but found some real good mods I will do before it hits the track), 1979 RM125 powered by an XR 200 engine, 1977 HL 500 GMC replica, 1989 CR 250, 1978 YZ 250 (White Euro colors), and when my memory kicks back in, I will update the race ready bikes.

Ready to assemble, waiting for room and time: 1979 Mugen 360, 1980 CR 250 being assembleto look like Marty Tripes 1979 Works bike, the above Ossa, 1976 YZ 175, 1983 Husky with custom built 100 cc engine (I so want to finish this very soon, 1974 YZ 175 (175 MX top end on the 125 bottom, 1974 YZ 250 forks).

I have more, but these are on the top of the hit list.

I sold off many bikes as I do not think I can live long enough to build and race all these bikes.

I have a 74 phantom. Mid Valley pipe on it. I can't find one of the stock low pipes so far. I think I have an extra swingarm from a 74 (aluminum that has been repaired on the axle adjustment ear). I may have a line on another MidValley pipe if you are interested.

Was that 79 the one that Tripes got "claimed"? I have an early HRC flat track version of the engine, complete with the "plug" and missing kickstart apparatus, and a right hand shift (I have the frame that Honda contracted with c and j to build for it as well). Some of the projects waiting to go. 72 cz 250 and 74 cz 250 enduro, vr414. xl 350 in a champion frame (street tracker now) two bsa's. some other things like a c and j xr500 etc etc.

I hear you about running out of time.

Thank you for the kind words.
