8/17 & 18/10 Kennedy Meadow

So the camping trip went off as planned. We went camped at Troy Overflow. PBK and his brother made it out a day earlier then me and set up camp. I made it to camp about 11 PM with no problems. Morning hit and i was all giddy and ready to :ride: but first things first. I had to test out my brand new chair...

as you can tell it was almost as fun as actually getting on a dirt bike. While we are at it... jsut to make CDA enjoy this RR here is a bike on a stand...

you can also see my bike in teh background using a tree as a stand. my truck was so loaded i didnt even have room for a stand in my truck...

Yes there is my sons 50 in there as well
I didnt get any pics but my wife finally took over the 80 and she said she really liked riding it. She mainly stuck to the dirt roads around camp as she has never rode before but i did take her to one of the trails i thought would be easiest for her. Not 50 yards on that trail she goes into a whoop looses balance and jumps off the bike a split second before it slamms right into a tree. she was fine as we were not going fast at all. after that she said i think i want to build more skill on the roads first... i said ok lets go back. We all rode the 80 to go to the toilet and wash our faces.. it was a great camp bike for the big boys as i dont think it could even do 25 with us on it anyway

My son absolutly LOVES his new dirt bike. So much that he would not even stop unless we told him to give it a break to cool down. even then he would stand next to it looking at things on it or sit on it and pretend he was riding it. He made himself a sweet little track that goes through the trees at our campsite...
he also gave his little sister a ride on it...

And now on to the big boy rides.. PBK his brother and I first hit up Beach Creek Trail. I had a blast. some sections are pretty rocky and a little slow but for the most part i was in love. Ive never rode anything like this before, only a track hill climbs and desert... never forest. Anyway the next trail i rode was Mahogany trail and this one had one section that was kinda tough but i just stayed on teh gas going up the hill and i got over all the rocks np. Then a little farther was one of the best views i ever seen.. of dome park area. I went back to it with my camera but the pic was all white washed out :(. The funnest trail for me was the Jackass trail Lots of switchbacks not too rocky and cool bridges to ride over. We rode Jackass to albanita trail which was also fun but a little sandy in spots. Here is a vid i put together of the big boy rides. Its pieced together as it was WAY to long on each ride to post without editing... Also i got permission from RockMonster to use his band for the music so enjoy...

last but not least BIG THANK YOU goes out to Cleonard and BajaTaxi for showing us the way to this KICK ASS riding and camping spot. Without you guys i prolly wouldn't have pushed to make the 6 hour drive to go ride here.

We almost stopped by on the way back from Boise. If I would have had some food in the cooler and gas for the bikes I would have, what's an extra 25 miles off the hwy when I was driving a 1000 miles each way? Next time, soon, maybe next wkend.
Glad you got out of your element and had a blast!

That Rock Trav. The chair looks pretty sweet. I might have to take that thing for a spin.. thanks for the stand shout out. Looks like your son has been reading my post's. Staring at his bike and looking things over. You should have planted him in a chair while he was looking at and put a rag in his hand. That would have been a great pic..

I finally watched the videos...son looks like he's enjoying his ride. Your video was great...the bar mount made it look like you had ape hangers on!

Great pic's, vid and RR....:thumb:

would have been cool if ya did show up... we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. the only people i seen was on the last day i think it was team yamaha or yamaha's test team showed up. they had 3 trucks all white with no stickers or anything showing who they were but we rode by their camp and those things were mobile mechanics shops. there was about 10 yamahas and they were going in 2's up mohogany to the road and turning around and going back all day. Me and PBK had them come the other way 1 time when we were on the trail and stopped. That was something we thought about.. some of the spots if a rider is coming the other way there is NO room for anyone to pass... could get kinda hairy if its crowded out there i would think.

Sounded like a great time was had....

As for not having room to pass...I experienced the same thing a long time ago up in big bear...We had to lean way into the hill so the oncomin gtraffic could get by. All they had to worry about was not running over our rims/tires. Depending on your sitch...you could do the same or if on the down side even easier as long as you have someplace to stand...:thumb:

You guys must have had the ranger teflon going this weekend.

KM is in general not beginner friendly. Kids riding around camp usually is good for a strong warning if not a ticket. Same for riding on the roads, except for the very few where it's allowed, like the road from the camp to the start of the Mahogany creek trail.

The other beginner friendly ride is to trailer the bikes up to the start of the Monanche jeep trail and ride to the meadow.
