Is Seal Mate worth it?

My fork is leaking, and before I go replacing the seals I feel like I can at lest try to get some dirt out. It seems legit, should I buy it or is there a common household item that I could use instead to save me shipping time and $5?

Cut your own the same shape out of a plastic milk jug or pepsi bottle.

Mike in Fresno has a post or thread on DBA somewhere on this exact topic.

It has been but I didn't even ride my bike 10 times last year because of all the pistons it went through :( .

did you do the entire service or just oil and seals?
worn bushings can cause a seal to wear prematurely.

I have the seal mate, it sits on the top shelf of my tool box. I used it twice and both times it did not work.

I have heard of people using old film negatives too. But usually if they are leaking, they need to be replaced. Hope you are not unlucky like me where I had a burr on the fork tube that kept eating seals. Good luck.

Once a seal leaks, its basically done. I have made the seal cleaning tools, they clean a little out, but don't fix the issue. Time to pull the forks out, open them up and change the seals/oil and any bushings that are worn out. You're welcome.
