Xr650l rebuild

Uugggg! Well I was so close to getting the bike today. The new tank, sprockets, chain, and fork seals are all done. After a quick test drive we discovered a carb issue and found out theres no front breaks! Oh yeah also the suposedly “new“ battery want hold a charge.

So I just decided to leave it there till everything is done. The good news is that the mechanic said its by far the strongest/fastest dirt bike he's ever rode. I already knew the engine and tranny were built up and very strong but it was still nice to hear. Here's a few photos I snapped before it got pushed back into the shop.

Here's a few photos. I still need to do some painting and change out the seat, and lights. But its atleast getting there.

:shocked: I do not know what to think about the Linex plastic.

:shocked: I do not know what to think about the Linex plastic.

Well;
1) If he is on an acid trip, it won't damage the plastics
2)The plastics will generally last longer
3)When on said acid trip and he falls over, the impact will have excellent impact resistance....:thinking: maybe I need to rethink that sentence
4)When on said acid trip and he falls over into the Sea of Cortez, the plastices will be protected

So, now do you know what to think about the Linex plastic?:poke:

LINE-X Protective Coatings are resistant to most solvents and acids, making them ideal for industrial and commercial applications where corrosion is prevalent. Using LINE-X greatly extends equipment and vehicle life expectancy. It has a high "shore D" hardness rating, offering excellent impact resistance and superior tensile strengths (up to 6,600 psi) resulting in outstanding abrasion resistance. Because the material is sprayed there is a complete seal, making the coating "water tight".

There's no denying that linex is badass stuff! You can take a 4x4x8 with a 16 penny nail sticking out of it and let it fall directly on your linexed bed and it won't puncture or scratch at all. And the color matching feature along with the ability to apply it to dam near any surface if properly preped really makes it great stuff.

You need a black seat cover and a blinker re-wiring.

Theres lots still to be done but yes those are 2 definates on the list. I'm getting all new lights so I will rewire properly then. I'm looking for the black seat cover but have only found colored ones so far. I know they are out there, I just need to look harder.
