:ride: Pro Taper Pillowtops love them, but they get chewed up pretty quick. I will keep on buying them though as they're the best I've found IMO.
Safety wire in four places! That is all!
:thumb:
I usually dump some grip glue in and tie it in 3 spots.
I've used wire twice...1st time I wound it too tight and cut thru my new grips...new set - didn't wind as tight and they spin! Especually the right side! :smirk:
 I always twist the wire ends so tight that the wire breaks, :foul: think I need heavier wire.

used hair spray to put em on. I let it sit for a few hours and gave both a real good twist trying my hardest to get them to slip... nothing budged. If i have issues when i :ride: i will try the wire in 3 spots just like the pic i posted.

How about taking them off to replace them? Do you end up havin gto scrape the old stuff off?

i had to do so with the ones that were on there from whoever i bought the bike from. On the throttle side it only had 1 line of glue or whatever... the brake side it was smeared all the way around... 2 mins with a razorblade got it all nice and clean tho... wasnt a biggie. We will see what the hairspray does when i have to replace the pillow tops.

:thumb: I've got new grips to put on but have been putting it off!

so my brake side came loose. still in place but the outside twist. Throttle side is good to go tho :). i think what might have happened is i either didnt use enough hair spray or there was some dirt in the bars from my old broke grips and that dirt worked its way under the grip at the track today.

I use spray paint in the grip and have never had an issue. I make sure I take a little steel wool to the bars first.

I'm a fan of Spider Grips. They last good and are easy to hold on to.

I have tried grip glue and paint.
What workes the best for me is friction tape.
Wrap the bar with the tape (make sure it is fresh - some shops the stuff has been on the shelf too long).
Wrap 1 layer and the grip feels normal, 2 or 3 layers makes the grip larger in diameter.
I use 3, since I have big hands and hate small diameter grips.
Once the tape is on, it is time to put on the grip.
Spray the tape with brake or carb cleaner.
It makes the tape slimey - slide on the grip.
You have a while to position it, you don't have to be in a hurry like that damn grip glue.
By morning it is set. The grip will not move.
I have had paint and grip glue come loose after riding in rain storms.
This has never come loose - ever.
You will have to cut the grips off to replace, but the tape under the grips comes off the
bars pretty easy.
Re-apply tape, spray and put on the grip.
Plus Friction tape and brake cleaner is cheap and you always have some of both in your shop.

I put my new grips on yesterday without any issues, not even a minor one................ this time!
1) I used half a tube of grip glue on each one,
2) I turned each grip inside out half way...that's as far as I could get them
3) applied glue on the grip
4) stuck thm onto the end of the bars and they slid right on.....
5) applied more glue to the bars and unrolled the rest of the grip....done

BTW...my bars are knurled where the4 grips go so steel wool/scotch brighting them would be "fruitless"...
