Pulled the cover and I found out that the dummy who put the motor together applied the wrong direction of spring tension on it. Not allowing the ratchet mechanism to ever fully rachet back to place.

Might have to! Well got the bike fired up but the right radiator tank developed a leak some how. So now I'm just fed up with it, i don't have the money to buy a new one right now.
Maybe I'll try something like that. It needs to be broken in and I don't want to jeopardize how well it breaks in because I'm waiting for some radiator leak to seal.
The Alumaseal works fast and you can use very little of it. When I have to use it on a bike I add it a quarter of a teaspoon at a time.
You mention glazing the cylinder by running too much oil. My experience hasn't shown that. Over oiling the cylinder for assembly sure will. Mine go together towel dried at the "wettest". I breakin on the same mix I normally run and that is 20-1 (yamalube generally).
