Maybe I'll try something like that. It needs to be broken in and I don't want to jeopardize how well it breaks in because I'm waiting for some radiator leak to seal.
 
Did you take an extra wrap on the return spring? When you do that, the spring assembly grows in length and shrinks in diameter. This crowds the contacts together.
 
The Alumaseal works fast and you can use very little of it. When I have to use it on a bike I add it a quarter of a teaspoon at a time.

You mention glazing the cylinder by running too much oil. My experience hasn't shown that. Over oiling the cylinder for assembly sure will. Mine go together towel dried at the "wettest". I breakin on the same mix I normally run and that is 20-1 (yamalube generally).
