@SRAD97750 , should I attempt to clean the valve, or just buy some lapping compound and replace it?

Figured out why it backfires! (pic doesn’t do it justice)

Valve seals arrived today! (as well as air filter and a feeler guage set)

Whew! I had accidentally misadjusted the carb, runs good on choke (still smokes, just waiting on parts)

Hmm, now it won’t start, fires sometimes, and sometimes poppies through the carb

WELL ???. What's the verdict ???

Appreciate the advice. Sounds like clutch adjustment or a bent shifter are the main culprits, so I’ll dig into those first and report back.
