YouTube Video Quality

Need some opinions/feedback. I uploaded the same video 4 times, with different export settings, to try and determine a good export setting for YouTube. Can you tell any difference between these? If there's one that you think it better please post the link. :thumb:

And before you ask what you get in return? How about a video of Aaron Plessinger ripping on a 125?! :ride: (If you don't know who Aaron is, he swept all of his motos at Loretta's, 6 in total)

*All these videos are posted as unlisted and will be removed, so I wouldn't share the link elsewhere until I make one public. :thumb:

I only see one difference. It's really hard to notice anything because you have de-interlacing turned on in whatever program you used to render the video, which cause the big pixelation marks that you can see. The last 2 video's look better because the pixelation marks are smaller, but they're still there.

What program do you use to cut and render video?

This is all thanks to YouTube processing the video, the original is sharp. Also this video was shot at 60fps.

I can't really tell a difference between the two if I let YT convert it to 30fps vs me doing it.

I use Premiere Pro.

Ah ya I don't use Premier I use Sony Vegas. Trav uses Premier.

I do think however that the 30 vs 60 fps isn't so much a quality thing, but is more about the ability to do slow motion shots. Slo-Mo looks better with 60fps, the way those super crazy slow motion cameras are like 1500fps.

Google how to turn off de-interlacing in Premier and see if that gives you a visual quality bump. I found out about it by googling Sony Vegas tips, and found a bunch of video's on how to setup the program for the best quality. I dunno what half of it does, but it sure made a big difference in my video quality post render.

Since you can't adjust the shutter speed on the GoPro the only other option is to increase the FPS which in turn requires it to increase the shutter speed. A higher shutter speed gives you a sharper image.

Researching this now. :thumb:

If you can see sharpness that finite, you've got much better vision than i do.

The only reason I know anything about this is that I noticed the raw video footage from my gopro was better than anything i put on youtube. My goal was to get the youtube quality as close to raw quality as i could. Do you see a different between 30 and 60 fps on the raw footage?

When shooting action a higher shutter speed gives you a cleaner final product.

I typically don't shoot in ProTune mode as I don't have the time to go through and edit the footage. Especially not when the lighting changes a lot (going through shaded areas etc). 2.7k scaled down to 1080p also works pretty good.

Here's a screenshot from a recent video shot at 1080p 60fps.

And here's a 1080p 30fps

I'd like to point out that these are with ProTune off, turn it on and your bit rate is substantially higher.

Also here's the first one rotated because it shows how badass it really is.
