trail work

My son was following me, I came around a corner into a 30' straight away, about half way into the straight away I looked down to see a rattle snake striking at my front tire. I passed the snake and dropped the bike knowing that Cooper was coming around the corner any minute. As soon as I saw Cooper I was waiving my hands trying to get him to stop short of the snake. By the time he caught my signal he had stopped right at the snake. He looked down and the snake is striking his front tire. He jumped off the back of his bike and the bike fell over near the snake. Now the snake is curled up and rattling loud! I started throwing rocks at it to try and get it to move away from Cooper's bike. The snake moved under the bike and curled up and started rattling again. I found a stick and had Coop pick up the bike while I started jabbing the snake in the head. It took a few good shot before I was convinced he was dead. So everytime I go through that section I tend to pick my feet up.
