Most of the sand is in the south... even big sand dunes... as you head north to the west is Cougar Buttes, all rock and boulder crawls... technical trials style riding... north and east is lake beds to mountains of purple rock covered ridge lines and single track. It's all there... but it's a bit elusive. I can see why years of REZ parties would not expose whats there. Especially if you you left JV to ride Rattlesnake Canyon. Not trying to sell anyone on the place... could care less about where the DBA Tday is... just tying to correct the perception. You'll ever really know until you know... and that means going with someone that knows. Personally I like variety... and I dig finding unique riding gems anywhere... about the only place I don't like to ride is the Cal City area due to their stupid permit system... and lately much of the surrounding area has so much fencing and signage that it disturbs me... still some good riding though. A word about SAND riding: I used to SUCK at it bad ! It affected where I rode all the time. I hated it anytime I had to cross a wash. So one weekend I went to Gorman and rode up and down the Freeman washes all day long on an old impossible to turn XR600. By the end of the day I was cured. You can do this at ANY age. You just do NOT have to hate sand. Once you learn it you will find sand provides your most restful parts of the ride. 8 hours in the sand changed my life. DRILL IT AND YOU WILL BE CURED
