TWS, I worked for VWoA in the late 70 - 85 before they split off from Porsche. Air cooled made them who they are. I don't think you can do better than the 1000 offer from DMV. You have to take your expenditures into account but you can find some real nice cars for a good price. I just picked up a 91 Camry wagon (90,000 miles on it) for my daughter. She killed a Volvo 240 wagon by ramming it into things learning how to drive. :foul: However, the Camry will not take the abuse that the Volvo did. Toyotas run for ever if you can finger a good one. No kidding. I got an idea. Look for a Toyota truck 89-94 EFI 22R (4cyl) 2X or 4X. I have a 91 4X4 extra cab in storage that was totaled in a front end right side. Bent frame but all the other running parts are perfect. I have been looking for a donor truck that has a blown motor to swap it. If you find one I will let you have the running gear for CHEAP, or if you know of one steer me there. You can literally take a toyota out of the junk yard and it will smog. :thumb:
