I am looking into a bike around $1,700, I am looking at an 08' Kx250 and its mint condition for $1,700. I am worried about having to work on the engine because its a two stroke. The power is fine because I am very responsible, I am 270lbs and 6'.

No matter the bike you get, the proper service manual will be extremely enlightening regarding all aspects of 2T maintenance.
You'll learn a lot just reading your specific manual.

$1700 for a mint condition 08 KX250? Thats a great deal IMO. I just sold my "clapped out" (it wasn't - @Palmer) 99 YZ250 for $1600, with title.
Respect the bike and you'll be fine.

Good call @Mihylo33 . Last year was 07 from what I can find.
If thats the case, then this is a 4T that will cost 1000's to rebuild, if it's not mint.
I know, I got one. I'm at least 2500 into it. Not including my buy-in price of 300.
To OP - verify what you might be buying!
IMO - if its a 4T and doesn't start on the 1st or 2nd kick...it's not mint.
