Importing bikes to the U.K. From U.S.A

Been thinking about this for years as there is a Good healthy market for honda mx bikes from 75- 95, all cr's have shot up in value with 250's +500's circa 85-90 doing £4000-£5000 mint and £1000-1500 rough ready for resto!
A 20 foot container from the eastern sea board to the U.K. Is £1900, a 40foot container is £2900, roughly the value of one nice bike or 2-3 projects, got to think 20 bikes in a 20 foot and 40-50 in a forty footer!
How much can an old worn out or nice 250 or 500 be bought for there on CL or elsewhere?
Got to be some money to be made here!

The west coast has bikes ranging from $300-$1000 USD for older 90s japanese mx bikes. Not sure how it would all wash out but there has to be some coin in the effort. -BIG DAN:thumb:

There's a guy that does that to New Zealand from the west coast. Never asked how much but all items must have paperwork. Been talking to U.K. Jim and he said main parts would be easier and then assemble there.

We used to have them in that price range 6 or7 years ago but now they've all been bought and stripped for parting out or restored'ish! :(

even just a good ready to use 250 engine will do £1000 here so assembly isn't necessarily the way to go but yeah I see the point about papers etc although older pre 98-2000ish have no papers here! (mx only)
