I just installed a trail tech hour meter on my 03 KX250 (2t). Is there a difference between reading hours on a 2t and a 4t? It's at 3.6 hours already and that seems a bit high to me. Is there a setting I'm missing??

yeah the instructions just said how to mount it and wire to the spark plug cap. And its just an hour meter I didn't care to much for the tachometer version just needed the hours. Guess I did ride it that long then, I guess time flies when your having fun...Just installed, didn't read the instructions?
Depending on the model you bought it could have "other" features. Did you ride the bike for 3 hours since install?
There is no difference between 4 and 2 stroke.
Oh shit! I don't know.... that may be the problem hahahaYou didn't set it to dog hours did you?

Hahaha. So I switched it from dog hours to SAE hours. Should be good now.I'm pretty certain those hour meters come with a metric default setting. You have to set it to SAE hours to get a correct reading. For a quick conversion: 1.7 metric hours = 1 SAE hour. You're welcome in advance for this helpful and informative post
.I have an ebay one. 60% of the time it works everytime.
