You are referring to transmission oil?

I am an ATF fan, because of the smooth clutch feel.
Lots of folks use JASO rated motor oils for the transmission.
A JASO rated gear oil would work as well.

any of the non ec rated oils work fine. the gears and bearings are happy on just about anything. I can't see a good reason for buying a motorcycle specified transmission or engine oil when there are many good oils from the diesel side (15-40) and 10-40 that the older cars specified for 1/3 the price of the specialty oils. It boils down to what your clutch likes the best, and for me in everything two stroke I have from my yz125's to my cr500 any of the ATF's work just fine. I have a cr500 that I have had since 1988 that still works great on generic automatic transmission fluid.

Does anybody know what kind of gear oil a '02 rm125 takes? Manual didnt come with the bike.
just dont run atf ...it wears out fast...use gear oil from cycle shop...maxima has some good stuff think its 85/95wt gear oil. use valvoline in mine ...gear oil 75/85...5 years later no burned clutches. can get that at a meijer or walmart
