Crf 250 problems

My buddy's Crf 250 is running weird it sometimes won't start from kick starting it sometimes it will if you hold the hot start but other times you have to bump start it once it fires up it runs and idles fine does this sound like a valve issue or a air leak

By the way the bike is a 04 and it supposibly has a big bore kit and hot cam in it not sure if it does but it did come with stock cylinder and stock cam both in great shape

Hard starting is often an indication of valve issues. Have you checked the valve clearance?

not yet I can't find my feeler Gage's anywhere but I might borrow my buddys

sounds to me like someones going to be replacing some valve shims​

I'd start by checking your valves.

My guess he will find the 1 tight valve, and enough crap in the carb to go

TWS at Ocotillo Wells shimming a Red 250F.
