Good luck to you guys and we will be waiting for the race report.

Here is the start list for this race. Not sure the reasoning but BITD cant get our sponsor right we are the 211 Yamaha in the 250 Expert class. The team on the 207 Beta is dropping down from the Pro class to the Expert class because the Beta in the 250 Pro class is the son of the team owner and he wants to win the championship. BUT he can't beat the 207 bike so they dropped the 207 bike to Expert.

Sucks for us because we are already racing in a class higher because one of our 3 riders is an expert. the other 2 riders are amatuers. OH well we will give them hell. It is Desert racing and anything can happen. We will be posting race updates on our facebook page. I would do it here to but it is to hard from my phone.

Well we are back from Laughlin. We finished third. 10 minutes behind second after one of our riders had an injury. One rider blew his knee out 3 miles into a 20 mile section, and rode the rest of his section. We had to remove him from the bike when he got into the pits and help him to the chair. He still only lost 10 minutes to the leader.

I left out the shop around noon on Friday to start the drive down to Laughlin. With very little traffic we made it to Laughlin in a hour in a half. We got checked into our room and headed out to contingency and tech. Our bike had already made it through tech inspection when I got there. After checking out the bikes rolling through tech we loaded our bike up and headed in to go to the riders meeting.

At the riders meeting they informed us that the 207 Beta was no longer going to be racing in our class they moved them back up to the Pro Class. We were relieved to hear this as it seems like somebody was trying to even out the playing field. After the rider meeting we went and talked to the riders of the 207 bike and asked what the deal was. They said that they told the team if they wanted the 207 bike to race the expert class they were going to have to find different riders, as they were pros and they don't drop a class to race. I guess there is still some honor in this sport.

After the riders meeting we went down and ate at the buffet and discussed the race strategies for the next day. We used a Highly sophisticated selection process (Coin Flip) to see who was going to start the race in the morning. After that was decided we talked about rider changes and decided that we were going to switch riders every loop. The first loop was only 18 miles and the second loop was only 20 miles but each loop was about an hour ride time so they were pretty technical loops.

Our bike left the line at 7:24 side by side with another bike. Aaron was on the bike at the start and pushed the other bike wide and was trying his best to gap the other bike before they hit the single track. Once he was out of site we headed back to our pit to get ready for him. He came into pit one with the leader in sight. We fueled the bike up and gave it a once over. Dalton jumped on the bike and headed out onto loop 2. Dalton came into pit 2 around 10 minutes behind the leaders. This is not normal for Dalton as he is rather fast and loves the tight single track. Once he couldn't get off the bike we knew something was wrong.

We made some adjustments to the motorcycle and sent David out to do loop 1 again. After we got the bike out we turned our attention to Dalton. He was clearly in a lot of pain. He has had multiple knee surgeries to repair a torn up knee. He said he stuck it out to go around a corner and it got stuck in the sand and he felt it pop. We could tell that he was fuming with frustration that he had let the team down and that was his biggest worry. The knee was secondary. We reassured him that we were proud of him to finish his 20 mile section and only loose 10 minutes to the leader. There was 80 miles to go in the race and we were now riding a course that the riders knew so the speeds would pick up.

As David came in we were 8 minutes behind the leader and Aaron was back on the bike to head out onto loop two for the first time. This is when David learned that we were going to be down a rider the rest of the race and he was going to have to ride another loop. We talked about bike setup with David as we waited for it to come back. We decided we were going to make a couple more changes when it came in this time. Aaron made up time on the leaders as he came in from his loop. We fueled the bike, made our adjustments and sent David back out to loop 1 for the second time.

As we waited we got Aaron hydrated and got some food in him so he could finish strong. David lost a little time to the leaders as he was 12 minutes behind when he came into the pits for the final loop. Aaron jumped on and was trying to reel the leaders in before the finish. Aaron was on the gas and he knocked 3 minutes off the lead before the finish.

We ended up finishing 3. I am proud of our riders, they rode good and kept the margin pretty tight. If we could just get a little luck we would be right there challenging for the win. We are gearing up for the Silver State 300 in May. We will be on our 2006 YZ250F and will be going for the win. Also would like to wish Dalton a Speedy recovery and hope he heals up in time to join us for the Silver state 300.
