I am new to this forum but I wanted to put this in the memorial about an accident on Thanksgiving morning in 2009. My good buddy, Bill Perrett, lost his life on a dirt road called Hoffman Road near Cuddieback Dry Lake close to California City. Our families and his have camped together and we have ridden our KTM's and Harleys for years. It was a very dusty morning and he was riding by himself at the time and a group of 10 riders coming the opposite direction approached. A 15 year old kid was riding on the wrong side of the road in the dust and they hit head on. I believe they were all riding too fast for the conditions but my friend was killed on impact and the other boy was severely injured. I can never understand why to this day people ride on the wrong side of a dirt road in dusty conditions or around blind turns. I see this all the time and I recently had a close one just a couple of weeks ago with a Rhino and some kid sliding around a blind turn up on Baldy Mesa. As I am always telling my son, you are not the only one out there riding in the dirt and you must always ride on the defensive. I put a memorial for my buddy up at the Husky Memorial as he and I would visit this site every time we were out there and look at all the people who have passed on. We all miss him and his loud obnoxious laugh.
