Other 80 Honda XL185S front brake sensor

Hello everyone

New member here
I have a 80 Honda XL185S. My situation...
When applying front brake, the signal wasn't reaching the rear brake light.
My front brake brake sensor cable came out yesterday from the brake lever and not sure how this works. Friction fit? Looks like it and the parts new and used look like it fits that way.
The sensor has a plungered end that seats in the brake lever with looks to be a small plastic tube that either extends the machanics to push back and forth working the plunger sensor for the rear brake. Not sure how to fix properly the right way to solve this to factory standards. Thank you in advance for your responses.

Time to improvise .. look at cable end . Insert into lever body to figure out the size needed to hold it in .. Maybe a self tap screw to hold it in ...
I am really not sure. Can't find any info online! Seams reasonable. Will look into it.
Yup, definitely time to improvise…. A self-tapping screw like he said, or a reversible glue…. (I recommend screw,). Just don’t screw it into the sensor!!!
