'78 RM125 idle mixture jet

First of all hello to everyone on the forum, I am a Belgian resident and new here.

Let me paint you guys a picture of my situation before telling it straight. About 4 years ago one of my dad's buddies had a 1978 Suzuki RM125 in parts and told me if I wanted, I only had to come and get it. So I went and got it all trip by trip in a wheelbarrow. Eventually I assembled everything and the bike did just fine, very loud, but what do you excpect from a 2 stroke 123cc from the 70's.

Then, about a year ago it got stolen and a friend of mine found it dumped at a junkyard, totally destroyed (cables were cut, air filter and mudgiards destroyed, etc). And also, this is the important part, the idle mixture screw is missing. The carburetor is a Heikin and a PE series, but much more I don't know..

I've been searching the internet for the original jet, but can't find it. Is there an alternative jet perhaps somewhere, maybe a screw of a newer carb I can use? Anyone has experience with old RM carburetors?

Thanks in advance!

Sander

You're right, it's the idle screw that's missing. Now I don't know much about carbs, but I don't think they are compatible, the '78 one's a Keihin and that carb set ranges from '76 to '78 model, can't be all the same screws, can it?

Anyway, thanks for the replies.

Thanks everyone for the help, but I'm afraid the parts for my RM125, the C production, are very limited and the available parts for the '78 model correspond perfectly on every site but, no carb.. I guess I have to find a carburetor model that shares the same jet.. I can't imagine those screws are absolutely non excgangeable with a newer model, are they?

I finally found the part I'm looking for on motorcyclecarbs.com. Unfortunately, it's gonna cost me alot with shipping costs to Belgium and all..

Thanks for all the info everyone.

Keep us posted on how the rest of the bike turns out......I remember one of my friends as a kid had a 79 rm 125, it was a great bike.

I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to put the bike itself to it's (even somewhat) original state, after I got it back all chopped up.. So my priority is the engine, it's got some wear and tear, so I'm gonna try to get it running and if I don't succeed in the original bike altogether, I'm using the bikeparts for a homemade, go kart. I can't let that engine rot away somewhere. But either way, it's a real shame. The bike was really great, and those thieves just butchered it..

If I get the engine running ans somehow am able to use it in a go kart, I'll definitely post some pics online!

Grtz
