KTM Unveils New 2013 Factory Edition 450 SX-F

Only 555 will be offered in the U.S.
KTM introduced at its factory race shop in Temecula, California, a new 450 SX-F Factory Edition for the 2013 model year. The SX-F 450 Factory Edition, which is modeled after team rider and 2012 AMA 450 National Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey, will be available in limited numbers and will sell for about a $1000 more than the standard KTM 450 SX-F that KTM already offers.

2013 450 SX-F Factory Edition is modeled after the bike Ryan Dungey will debut at the opening round of the 2013 Supercross Series.

The Factory Edition, which is considered a 2013 model, is based on the company's KTM 450 SX-F and its new-generation 450cc fuel-injected, single-cam, four-stroke engine. The engine cases and clutch cover of the Factory Edition model, however, have been redesigned to minimize weight by removing the kick starter boss to save over half a pound.

The bike also features a host of chassis upgrades, including an updated clutch, orange anodized CNC-machined triple clamps, an orange powder-coated frame, a Salle de Valle seat, an Akrapovic titanium factory silencer, gold Regina chain, orange-anodized rear 52T sprocket, black Excel rims, orange radiator and fork protectors, Dunlop Geomax MX51 tires, a holeshot device, front brake disc guard and exclusive Red Bull KTM Factory Team blue and orange graphics. You won't be able to purchase a replica graphics kit for the standard model.

The bike also now has a map switch for easy adjustment of the new ignition curves. You can now change between to mapping setting via a switch on the handlebars. The Factory Edition also comes fitted with an hour meter to help track time between maintenance intervals.

The removal of the kickstarter housing also removes more than half a pound.

Claimed dry weight is 235 pounds.

Only 555 (in honor of Dungey's number-5 racing number) of the new 450 SX-F Factory Edition will be offered in the U.S. Unlike previous Factory Edition model last year, this one will also be available in Europe but only 150 units will be produced.
The 450 SX-F Factory Edition will be available in early Spring with an MSRP of $9899.

Looks like my dad was right. he always said, "its the rider that makes the bike a race winner, not the other way around"
