I am always buying and selling motorcycles. This weeks endeavor led me down a horse road in riverside, CA. Here I found this 1994 GSXR, which had been sitting for 7 years in a clean garage. Had a VERY clean engine and bay. Not a drop of oil or smudge of grease on the exterior. Both tires were still holding air, and the brakes are good. 11K miles. KEYS. No fairings. When a bike is totally naked, you can see every detail. It is immaculate. Zero frame or case damage. Worth $1200 in this condition. This fella had a $1000 RGV MotoGP Replica body kit NEW IN BOX. Never opened. He was including the fairing kit. What a package for a able-bodied mechanic!!! Even the suzuki bike cover was included. Needless to say, I snatched it up within 15 minutes. Got home and realized that this fairing kit has no holes, is a trim-to-fit, and includes extra parts. WOW! I'm a mechanic, not a custom fabricator. Out comes the dremel, cutting bits, sanding wheels, drill, and Velcro. "I'm BIG DAN, I'll make it happen!" Got everything mocked up with velcro, and loved the way it looked. No way it would fit with all the "CA evap" system. So, I looked online and found some good info on converting my CA model to a 49 states setup. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=299226 In the end 35 lbs of hoses, brackets, reedvalves, canisters, and subframes were removed. That's a 10% weight savings! Unbelievable. -BIG DAN :thumb:
